Waterfalls

in Twin Mountain Bretton Woods

See several of New Hampshire’s top rated waterfalls! Our region is even home to NH’s tallest waterfall, Arethusa Falls. Discovered in 1875, these falls were named after a nymph from Greek mythology that turned into a fountain. Many of our region’s waterfalls are easily accessible and only a short distance from the road or trail head.

Our Favorite Waterfalls

Arethusa Falls – Claimed to be New Hampshire’s tallest waterfall. This set of falls is a short 1.5 mile hike – located on Route 302 in the town of Livermore. This is a great family hike, taking approximately 1.5 – 3 hours round trip.

Ripley Falls – This waterfall is a 100-foot tall and located in Crawford Notch State Park. Ripley Falls has one of the steepest-angled slides in all of New England.

Silver and Flume Cascades – Silver Cascade is a true roadside waterfall which makes it one of the most highly viewed waterfalls in New Hampshire. The Flume Cascade runs parallel to the Silver Cascade.

Flume Gorge and the Basin – A natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty.

Upper and Lower Ammonoosuc Falls – These are two different sets of waterfalls located in Carroll County.
