Where to Eat: A Local’s Guide to Twin Mountain & Bretton Woods

More Local Flavor. Fewer Chain Restaurants.

Good news — you’re in one of the few corners of the White Mountains where “local” still means something. No drive-thru lines, no strip malls. Just a handful of family-run spots, a couple of legendary kitchens, and the kind of breakfast that makes you reconsider your whole day’s itinerary.

Here’s our guide, organized by what you’re looking for.

Breakfast

YaYa’s Market and Deli — Twin Mountain YaYa’s has a real following for a reason: great breakfast sandwiches, solid coffee, and pizza that locals swear by. It opens early too — 6am (7am on Sundays) — making it the go-to for adventurers who want to get on the trail before the rest of town is awake.

Munroe’s Family Restaurant — Twin Mountain If you only remember one name from this guide, make it this one. Doesn’t open until 8am, so it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed, sit-down start to the day rather than a sunrise rush. Locals will tell you the parking lot fills up early anyway — the portions are enormous and the coffee keeps coming. The spot for a real diner breakfast before a big hiking day.

AMC Highland Center — Crawford Notch Full buffet breakfast, the kind that actually fuels a day on the trails. And it’s not just for overnight guests — the dining room is open to the public at posted prices, which is something AMC, as a nonprofit, is actively working to get the word out on. More on the Highland Center below.

The Wayside Inn — Bethlehem Breakfast here is reserved for overnight guests. Not staying over? Keep an eye out for special holiday brunches throughout the year, which are open to the public, with the gardens out front making for a pretty spot to sit with coffee.

The Cog Railway Open seven days a week for grab-and-go breakfast and lunch — an easy way to fuel up right before you board or head out for a hike.

Quick Bites & Lunch

YaYa’s Market and Deli — Twin Mountain Don’t let the gas-station exterior fool you — this is so much more. YaYa’s has a real following for pizza that locals swear by. Pack a sandwich for the day or grab an ice cream on the way back.

Bretton Woods Market & Deli — Bretton Woods This convenience store and gas station has daily hot food specials, custom pizza, and sandwiches made with Boar’s Head meats — plus a solid selection of regional beer and wine if you’re stocking up for an evening at the campsite or cabin.

Lunch & Dinner

The Wayside Inn — Bethlehem The standout here is outdoor dining in the gardens, paired with seasonal menus that change throughout the year. Dinner is served Thursday through Monday, 5–10pm, and is open to the public.

Rosa Flamingo’s — Bethlehem Known for pizza and Italian classics, with outdoor seating that makes it a favorite on a warm evening. Walk-in only — dinner runs 5–9pm, with a bar menu until 11, Wednesday through Saturday.

Rek’-Lis Brewing Company — Bethlehem This Bethlehem brewery is the kind of place people plan their evening around, with outdoor dining and a beer list that changes constantly — check the chalkboards when you walk in, or follow along on Facebook and Instagram to see what’s currently on tap. Most nights bring live music, and Mondays mean pint-and-pizza specials. Open noon–9pm.

Fabyan’s Station Set inside a restored 19th-century train station once used by vacationers traveling to Mount Washington, this casual pub sits right across from Bretton Woods Ski Resort. Expect elevated pub fare — great burgers and classic dishes — paired with local beers and spirits.

Stickney’s — Omni Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods On the patio level of the resort, this pub-and-steakhouse pairs fresh local and regional ingredients with daily lunch and dinner service — a great way to experience the Omni without breaking the budget. Sit by the fire on a cool evening or enjoy al fresco dining in the warmer months.

The Grille — Bretton Woods Nordic Center & Golf Club House Refuel from a day on the fairways or the Nordic and snowshoe trails at this inviting 19th-hole eatery. Full bar service, indoor and seasonal outdoor seating, and panoramic views of the Presidential Range year-round.

Just rolling into town? Munroe’s now serves supper Friday and Saturday evenings until 8pm — a solid option if you’re arriving later in the day and want something easy and familiar before settling in.

The Full Mountain Experience: AMC Highland Center

If you want dining that comes with a side of adventure, the AMC Highland Center in Crawford Notch is worth the drive. Mornings start with a full buffet breakfast, and you head out from there into some of the best hiking the White Mountains have to offer. Come back in the evening to a hearty, home-cooked dinner, then settle in by the fireplace for conversation.

Special Occasion Dining

Omni Mount Washington Resort — Bretton Woods The dining here ranges from casual to genuinely elegant — think a four-course dinner with a view, or cocktails on the porch as the sun drops behind the Presidentials.

Switchback Grille & Peaks Café — Rosebrook Lodge, Bretton Woods An on-mountain dining and event venue accessible via the Bretton Woods Skyway Gondola. Ride up, eat at elevation, ride back down. It’s become one of the most talked-about additions to the resort, and for good reason — there’s nothing quite like a meal with that kind of view attached to it. Opened seasonally.

The Cave — Bretton Woods A former speakeasy tucked into the resort, and it still feels like one — low light, old stone walls, a drink list that takes itself just seriously enough.

A Few Notes Before You Go

Hours shift seasonally up here, especially at the resort properties, so it’s worth a quick call or website check before you make the drive.
